Description
Build an AI agent that turns PDFs into referenced summaries, key facts, action items and missing-information lists. Prompts, schema, Python and n8n. Referenced summaries, key facts, action items and gaps from any text-based document. Turn long PDFs into a referenced brief with key facts, action items and a clear list of what the document leaves out. Facts point to a page or clause where the text gives one, so you can check them in seconds instead of rereading the whole file. The kit includes a tested system prompt, a JSON output schema, a standard-library Python agent with a PDF-to-input helper, an n8n webhook workflow and six task prompts for contracts, proposals, minutes, circulars, reports and version checks. It is built for consultants, office teams and students who need accuracy, not guesswork. Who it's for Consultants, operations staff, students and office teams who read long PDFs, reports, contracts and circulars. What it does • Referenced key facts with exact values and page or clause numbers • Action items with owner and due date, marked 'Not stated' instead of guessed • Missing-information list tailored to contracts, proposals, circulars and reports • Readability check that flags scanned or garbled text for human review • Python agent with a PDF-to-input helper (pypdf) plus an importable n8n workflow • Six task prompts: contract terms, proposal sheet, minutes tracker, circular, report, version check Benefits • Get the facts that matter from a 40-page document in about a minute • Check every point against the source instead of trusting an unreferenced summary • Spot missing annexures, clauses and dates before they cause problems • Run on a local model through Ollama for confidential documents • Give your team one consistent brief format for every document What's inside • 4 PDF guides (43 pages): Start Here, Build Guide, Prompt Pack, Testing, Security & Costs • Runnable Python agent (standard library only) with 22 automated tests, batch mode and cost limits • Importable n8n workflow with input validation and review rules • System prompt, a no-code prompt for any AI chat, and 6 task prompts (TXT + CSV) • 3 sample inputs, including a prompt-injection test • Editable Markdown sources, README, license and checksum manifest Three ways to use it 1. No-code: paste the prompt into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini (5 minutes) 2. Python: run the agent on one file or a whole folder (Python 3.11+, nothing to install) 3. n8n: import the workflow and call it from a form, sheet or app Use cases • Summarise a 40-page vendor proposal into scope, price, timelines and exclusions before a review meeting. • Pull every deadline, owner and deliverable out of a project kick-off document into an action list. • Check a rental or service agreement for notice period, renewal, payment terms and what is not stated. • Turn a government or university circular into the key dates, eligibility rules and documents required. • Brief a manager on a long audit or inspection report with the findings that need a response. Requirements • For the no-code route: any AI chat account • For the code route: Python 3.11 or newer • For real AI results: an Anthropic or OpenAI API key (paid per use) or a free local model with Ollama • Optional: n8n Cloud or self-hosted n8n Running costs The kit is a one-time payment. AI model usage is billed by your provider per use; the kit includes cost limits and a cost formula. Free options: the offline demo mode and local models via Ollama. Honest notes • The agent produces drafts and structured data. It never sends, posts, pays or changes records — a person reviews and acts. • Tested offline and in n8n against a local test server; live provider calls need your own key. • Results depend on your inputs and model. No income or results are promised. FAQs Q: Can it read scanned PDFs or phone photos of documents? A: Not directly. Scans have no text layer, so run OCR first with a tool of your choice; the kit does not include OCR. The agent marks readability as partial or poor when the extracted text looks unreliable, and that triggers human review. Q: How long a document can I use? A: The document_text field accepts up to 60,000 characters, and your model's context window also applies. For longer documents, process them section by section for the best accuracy. Q: Does it give legal advice on contracts? A: No. It extracts and explains what the contract text says, with references, and lists what is missing. For legal decisions, share the brief and the source with a qualified lawyer. Q: Can I use it without coding? A: Yes. The no-code prompt in 02-Editable-Files/prompts/no_code_prompt.txt works in any AI chat. The n8n workflow gives you a webhook version without writing code. Q: Will my documents be stored by the kit? A: No. The run log in runs/runs.jsonl records only field names, tokens and cost, never content, and results are saved only where you choose with --out. Whether the model provider keeps your text depends on their terms; use a local model through Ollama for fully local processing. Want all 20 agent designs, a full course and a research agent?
